Who is this programme for?
Managers, safety personnel and those coordinating fire-risk assessment and ongoing fire safety arrangements.
This Level 3 award focuses on fire-risk assessment and control in the workplace. It is relevant to people taking a more active role in evaluating premises and organising improvements.
What will you learn?
Move from basic fire awareness towards organised assessment, prevention and management of fire safety.
- Identifying fire hazards, people at risk and weaknesses in existing precautions.
- Evaluating prevention, protection, escape and emergency arrangements together.
- Documenting actions, assigning responsibility and reviewing after changes.
What should a useful fire-risk review consider?
A useful review considers the premises as they are used, including occupants, activities, materials and escape needs. It examines how prevention and protection fit together, and whether responsibilities for checks, maintenance and follow-up are clear.
The resulting actions need priorities and owners. This makes the assessment useful to managers who must allocate resources and keep arrangements effective over time. The learning supports that judgement rather than treating a completed form as the end of the process.
Why does a fire-risk assessment need review?
Changes to occupancy, materials, layout or activities can alter fire risk and escape needs. Review checks whether earlier assumptions remain valid and whether recommended actions were completed. A useful assessment guides how the premises are managed rather than becoming a document filed away after training.
