Who should take this course?
The course is intended for supervisors, maintenance and operations personnel, and contractor team leaders preparing to oversee confined-space entry. It develops the judgement needed to check that the entry plan, work permits, people and protective arrangements are ready before work begins.
What does confined-space supervision training cover?
The learning connects hazard assessment with decisions before entry, during the work and when conditions change.
- Identify confined spaces and assess atmospheric, mechanical, chemical, heat and other job-specific hazards.
- Review entry plans, permits, pre-entry checklists and the responsibilities of entrants, standby personnel and rescue teams.
- Check isolation and lockout/tagout arrangements, cleaning or purging, ventilation and the required atmospheric testing and monitoring.
- Confirm suitable PPE, communication, access controls and the availability of rescue arrangements before allowing entry.
- Brief the team, check role-specific training and coordinate simultaneous work that could affect the space.
- Review entry and gas-test records, manage handovers, suspend unsafe entry and control restarting or closing the work.
How is the supervisor different from the standby man?
The supervisor oversees the entry operation and verifies that the planned controls remain effective. The standby man stays at the entry point, accounts for entrants, maintains communication and reports problems. Both roles need appropriate training; completing one course does not automatically qualify someone for every confined-space duty.
Gas testing and rescue also involve defined competencies. Supervisors learn to verify these arrangements rather than assume that supervisory training alone authorises them to perform specialist tasks.
How does training relate to Aramco confined-space work?
Aramco contractor work places confined-space entry within a controlled permit system. Learning should connect the applicable Construction Safety Manual and GI 2.100 with the actual entry plan, isolation, gas testing, team briefing and emergency response arrangements.
Before deployment, the employer verifies the supervisor’s competence and site-specific authorisation. A training certificate alone does not grant work permit issuer status or permission to supervise every Aramco location.
What will assessment and preparation involve?
Course checks may use knowledge questions, entry-plan reviews, permit scenarios and decisions about unsafe conditions or emergency readiness. These activities assess how the candidate applies supervision principles, rather than simply recalls terminology.
Relevant operational experience helps connect the learning to the job. Entry requirements, practical activities and assessment arrangements are confirmed for the selected training programme.
How do I enquire about a place or team training?
Share your country, city and team size where relevant. HSE Promo will check suitable training arrangements, any practical assessment requirements, the earliest available schedules and fees before helping with booking.
