Who is this programme for?
Employees and nominated workplace responders who need first-aid knowledge and supervised skills practice for injuries and sudden illness.
The Level 1 route introduces an initial workplace first-aid response. It is useful for learners building basic emergency confidence and should be matched to the employer’s expected first-aider duties.
What will you learn?
Develop confidence in recognising emergencies and carrying out the first-aider role through structured learning and practice.
- Recognising an emergency, communicating clearly and obtaining appropriate help.
- First-aid learning for common injuries and illness within the course scope.
- Practical learning, realistic scenarios and understanding the first aider’s responsibilities.
What should you expect from practical first-aid learning?
Practical learning gives you opportunities to recognise a situation, communicate with others and practise the skills within the course’s scope under supervision. Scenarios can help connect knowledge with the pressure of an unexpected event, while feedback helps correct misunderstandings.
Choosing the right course involves the workplace role as well as the certificate name. A nominated first aider may need a different breadth of study from an employee attending a basic awareness session.
How is the published knowledge assessment structured?
The OSHAS programme page describes an open-book knowledge assessment with 2 hours allowed and a minimum pass score of 65%. These are the rules for this programme, not a universal pass mark for every OSHAS course. Practical duties also require competence appropriate to the work.
Can a course page replace practical first-aid training?
No. First aid involves skills that should be taught, practised and assessed under qualified supervision. The course guide helps you choose an appropriate training route. The employer’s first-aid needs assessment and named certificate requirement should guide the level and practical scope of the booking.
