Who is this programme for?
Permit issuers, receivers, supervisors and personnel working within a permit-to-work system.
What will you learn?
Understand how permits coordinate precautions, responsibilities and communication for higher-risk work.
- The purpose of permits and activities requiring coordinated work controls.
- Responsibilities, precautions, validity, extensions and changes in conditions.
- Communication, handover, suspension and formal closure of the work.
Why is a permit more than permission to start work?
A permit records the defined activity, agreed precautions and responsibilities for controlling it. Its value depends on the work matching those conditions and on people communicating when something changes. This explains why validity, handover and closure are part of the training.
The system also helps coordinate activities that could affect one another. Understanding the process makes it easier for issuers, receivers and supervisors to recognise the boundaries of the authorised work and avoid assumptions about continuing under changed conditions.
How is the published knowledge assessment structured?
The OSHAS programme page describes an open-book knowledge assessment with 2 hours allowed and a minimum pass score of 65%. These are the rules for this programme, not a universal pass mark for every OSHAS course. Practical duties also require competence appropriate to the work.
Is general permit-to-work training the Aramco WPR prerequisite programme?
No. General permit training explains the system and responsibilities. A named employer’s WPR pathway can require a specific prerequisite programme, examination and authorisation process. Select the exact programme needed for your role; similar course wording does not establish equivalence.
