Who should start with ISO/IEC 42001 Foundation?
The course introduces managers, advisers and people involved with AI systems to the principles of an AI management system. PECB lists no prerequisites. It is a foundation route for understanding the system rather than advanced model development or lead auditor certification.
What does the foundation course explain?
The two-day agenda introduces ISO/IEC 42001 and then develops understanding of an AI management system, followed by the certificate exam.

- How roles, policies and planning support responsible management of AI.
- The relationship between implementation, performance evaluation and improvement.
What is required for the Foundation certificate?
The exam covers the fundamental concepts and the AI management system. After passing, you may apply for the PECB Certificate Holder in ISO/IEC 42001 Foundation designation. No professional, audit or AI-project experience is required; acceptance of PECB’s Code of Ethics is part of the route.
Will this teach me to build AI models?
The focus is management and governance. It helps you discuss responsibilities, risks and assurance with technical and non-technical colleagues. Coding, model training and specialist technical testing require other study routes.
