Who is this SHA course for?
Community members and workplace responders who want a broader introduction to first aid alongside CPR and AED awareness.
What will you practise and study?
The in-person course combines explanation with instructor-led learning. The published classroom duration is 5–6 hours. The focus is acquiring and demonstrating skills in training, rather than learning emergency procedures from a webpage.
- Recognising common injuries and sudden illness, including bleeding, burns and fractures.
- Awareness of head, neck and back injuries and heat or cold emergencies.
- Instructor-led practice in CPR and AED use and recognising when emergency help is needed.
First aid or BLS: which course fits your need?
HSFA combines a range of injury and illness topics with CPR and AED learning. BLS concentrates on basic life support and resuscitation skills. Your role and employer’s named certificate requirement determine which route is appropriate.
