Who is this SHA course for?
Healthcare providers participating in assessment and management of adult respiratory or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiac arrest.
What will you practise and study?
The in-person course combines explanation with instructor-led learning. The published classroom duration is 2 full days. The focus is acquiring and demonstrating skills in training, rather than learning emergency procedures from a webpage.
- A systematic approach to recognising and assessing life-threatening adult emergencies.
- Application of knowledge in instructor-led practice and simulated cases.
- Team communication and coordinated care during advanced resuscitation scenarios.
What preparation is required?
SHA requires a pre-course self-assessment score of at least 80%, with unlimited attempts. This is preparation for the course, not a published substitute for completing the course assessments. Set aside time to review the supplied learning materials before attendance.
Is ACLS a starting course for a non-clinical employee?
ACLS is designed around healthcare assessment and clinical emergency responsibilities. Community first aid or BLS may be more suitable for a non-clinical role. Enrolment should match your professional scope and current level of resuscitation knowledge.
