Who is this SHA course for?
Healthcare providers caring for critically ill neonates, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and paramedics involved in neonatal care.
What will you practise and study?
The in-person course combines explanation with instructor-led learning. The published classroom duration is 1 full day. The focus is acquiring and demonstrating skills in training, rather than learning emergency procedures from a webpage.
- Preparation for coordinated neonatal resuscitation within the care team.
- Four learning modules addressing the programme’s neonatal care objectives.
- Review of key concepts and participation in supervised learning activities.
What preparation is required?
SHA requires a pre-course self-assessment score of at least 80%, with unlimited attempts. This is preparation for the course, not a published substitute for completing the course assessments. Set aside time to review the supplied learning materials before attendance.
Is neonatal resuscitation the same as paediatric life support?
NRP focuses on the needs of neonates, whereas PALS concerns critically ill paediatric patients more broadly. Select the programme aligned with your clinical responsibilities, rather than treating the certificates as equivalent.
